Well this is it. I've decided to start a blog. It's the easiest way for people in America and people in Sweden to know a little bit more about the daily happenings of my super exciting life. (Really, so exciting.)
It's been more than 3 years in Sweden now, and I must say A LOT has happened. I moved to this country, learned the language, met some pretty amazing people and almost completely and fully learned to be "Swedish." How is that different than being American, you ask?
1. I always take my shoes off when I walk inside.
2. I eat with a fork AND a knife.
3. What is a car? I ride my bike.
4. I've learned eating out is a luxury.
5. I love to hug.
6. Fika (like a Swedish coffee break) is my favorite meal of the day. It consists of cookies, cakes, muffins and tea. So it's not a meal at all, just a sugar break :)
The list could go on, but I'll stop there... for now.
Oh and if we're talking about my life, I guess the most exciting thing at the moment is the BABY I'm carrying around in my stomach!!!! Due Febrauary 11th... Erik and I couldn't be more excited to meet the little guy/girl. And we can't wait for everyone else to meet him/her either. Today is the beginning of week 24 (there are 40 weeks total, for all those who non-parents out there). I'll post some pictures soon of my growing stomach.
It's a strange feeling knowing I will have a baby here while my family is thousands of miles away. Lately I have been trying not to think about going through this without them, it only makes me sad and anxious. However, everyone back in the States can rest easy (since I know you all were worried) I have an amazing second family here :) And Erik, of course, who has been my rock since day one of moving here. He knows all about my rollar coaster of emotions. It's not an easy task to keep up with those! But he does it so, so well.
I think if I write too long of a first post, people will get bored. So I will end today's post, and hopefully return again soon.
